After days of decluttering and packing are done, it’s time to move! Moving day can be exciting but like everything else during the moving process, it can be stressful too. Even if you’ve moved before, you might not know exactly what to expect on moving day, especially if you have never hired a moving company.
Say goodbye to the confusion about what to expect on moving day from our pros at Florida’s Best Moving! Whether your move is across town or the country, we’ve got you covered!

What Happens During the Move?
Remember, our movers are professionals, so expect smiles, superior service, and prompt answers to all of your questions. If you are unsure about something, just ask! Now, let’s talk about moving day!
Here is our 5-step outline to follow for moving day, but remember, it’s always best to be prepared for the unexpected such as inclement weather, or traffic along the way!
#1. We Will Notify You of Our Arrival Time
Weeks before your move we will notify you of our arrival time so you can be prepared. There will be no surprises as to when our crew will show up, and we won’t keep you waiting and wondering.

#2. We Will Compile a Written Inventory
We will take inventory of everything that we are moving to ensure your belongings arrive at your new address in the same condition as when they left your old home. The shape and condition of all items will be assessed and noted. Before signing off on the inventory list, look it over to ensure that everything is accounted for properly.

#3. Packers Will Group Items
If you are using our packing services, we will group your items into categories, and will carefully pack each item using specialty boxes for clothing, dishes, and other fragile items.

#4. We Will Load Boxes and Furniture
Now that everything is packed, we will start to load your items on the truck. If there are any items such as family heirlooms, photos, or valuables that you want to move on your own, be sure to pull those to the side and pack them in your car with you.
When loading furniture, we will carefully wrap each piece with a moving blanket for padding and then strategically place each piece in the truck for a secure fit.
To keep your items from shifting in transit, we pack our moving truck as tight as we can. Don’t be concerned if your items seem disorganized in the truck, you’ll have a chance to tell us where you want the items to go when we arrive at your new home. Plus, if you use a labeling system when packing, unloading the truck and getting your items to the proper rooms will be a breeze!
#5. We Will Present You with a Bill of Lading
The bill of lading is an important document that outlines our moving estimate as well as the estimated delivery date. Be sure to look over this document carefully before signing it to ensure that you agree with everything outlined within.

Other Considerations
Here are a few other things to keep in mind for moving day:
Pets
If you are moving with dogs, cats, or other pets, make sure that they are confined to a single area in your home to protect them from the hustle and bustle of moving day. Pull important items to the side, such as their bed, food, water bowls, and toys so they are readily accessible when you pack up your car to make the journey to your new home, whether in town or across the country.
Personal Care
Make sure to prepare a moving day bag for each person in your family with everything that they need for the first night in your new home. Include items such as:
- Medicine and prescriptions
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Soap
- Shampoo
- Pajamas
- Toiletries
- Toilet paper
- And anything that you want for that first night when everything is packed away.
New Home
When your movers arrive at your new home, maximize your move-in experience by instructing the movers where to unload and place items. Protect your carpets or flooring with tarps or protective rugs, and make sure to locate the breaker box, water shut-offs, and the water heater.
Call family and friends to tell them that you arrived safe and sound. Say hello to your new neighbors and relax. You made it!
